A warm welcome to each of you today. Thank you for coming to worship with us!

King David wrote, "I was glad when they said unto me, let us go to the house of the Lord today!" There's just something about any place we set apart as being a place to meet with the Lord. He honors what we set aside for him and for our relationship with him, and he always meets us there.

Today as we pray, let's keep Palemoon and Schizm in our prayers. Last week we talked about how God uses the things we go through like a refiner uses heat to purify gold or like nature uses pressure to create diamonds; so God uses the trials of our life to bring out our inner beauty and make precious treasures out of things we didn't even know we had.

And those of you who know these two sisters see their inner beauty, which continues to grow as they hold on to and seek to get closer to their dear Savior through the trials that life brings to them.

Please stand up, and let's go to the Lord in prayer.

Daddy God, thank you for being here with us today. Thank you for loving us, even when we don't seem to see your love because we're looking at all the noise around us.

Thank you that no matter what we've done, where we've been, or what we've gone through, you're always right there waiting for us to run into your arms and receive your love, where we are safe and secure.

Thank you for your peace, Lord, that you give to all whose minds are stayed upon you. Thank you that we can have that deep assurance that no matter what goes on around us, we are safe in your hand, and no one else can take us away from you.

We ask that you be with Palemoon and Schizm in a special way today Lord. You know very well the things they've been going through in life, and I ask today that you pour out upon them a special measure of peace, of your love, and of your healing and restoring power.

You see the things each one of us here has gone through. Some things we may think no one knows or cares about, but you know, and you care. And you're right there waiting to walk through each and every valley with us, hand in hand.

Today you're waiting for us to come to you; whether we've know you our whole lives or have never surrendered our hearts to you, we know you desire for us to be at peace with you today, and have sweet fellowship with you today.

So Lord, we pray together, all of us, that you forgive us for our sins and wash us clean. Make us each a part of your family. Guide us in the way we should go. Take the old things in our lives and transform them -- make everything brand new, as only you can do.

And it's in the name of Jesus we pray.

Amen.

Click-touch the pulpit for a notecard, and let's worship the Lord together, for indeed he is great, and greatly to be praised!

          the resurrection of our Lord!

LORD YOU'VE BEEN SO GOOD

Lord, you've been so good to me
you gave me sight when I was blind
You showed me light I could not see
you brought me truth I could not find

Lord, you've been so good to me
you paid a debt I could not pay
You turned my darkest night to day
Lord you've been so good to me!

And so I praise you in the morning
and I praise you in the night
For you are my Salvation
 you are my guiding light
So I give you my everything
I just can't give you less
When you sent your Son to love me
 you gave me your best!

Lord, you've been so good to me
you set my feet on solid ground
You rescued my life from the grave
when no other help could be found

Lord, you've been so good to me
 and I could never repay
All the love you gave so freely
Lord, you've been so good to me!

And so I praise you in the morning
and I praise you in the night
For you are my Salvation
 you are my guiding light
So I give you my everything
I just can't give you less
When you sent your Son to love me
 you gave me your best!

Lord you've been so good to me
Lord you've been so good to me (better than I deserve)
Lord you've been so good to me
you paid a debt I could not pay
You turned my darkest night to day
Lord you've been so good to me

Lord you've been so good to me
Lord you've been so good to me (you're good all the time)
Lord you've been so good to me
 and I could never repay
All the love you gave so freely
Lord you've been so good to me

And so I praise you in the morning
and I praise you in the night
For you are my Salvation
 you are my guiding light
So I give you my everything
I just can't give you less
When you sent your Son to love me
 you gave me your best!

You gave me your best!
You gave me your best!

Lord, you've been so good to me.

THOU ART EXALTED

For you O Lord art high
     above all the earth
You are exalted far above
     all God

I exalt thee
I exalt thee
I exalt thee O Lord

JOYFUL JOYFUL WE ADORE THEE

Joyful, joyful, we adore thee
God of glory, Lord of love
Hearts unfold like flowers before thee
     opening to the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness
drive the dark of doubt away
Giver of immortal gladness
fill us with the light of day

All thy works with joy surround thee
earth and heaven reflect thy rays
Stars and angels sing around thee
     center of unbroken praise
Field and forest, vale and mountain
     flowery meadow, flashing sea
Chanting bird and flowing fountain
call us to rejoice in thee

Thou art giving and forgiving
     ever blessing, ever blest
Well-spring of the joy of living
     ocean depth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our brother
all who live in love are thine
Teach us how to love each other
lift us to the joy divine

Mortals, join the mighty chorus
     which the morning stars began
Love divine is reigning o'er us
     binding all within its span
Ever singing, march we onward
victors in the midst of strife
Joyful music leads us sunward
in the triumph song of life!

Amen and amen! Feel free to take a seat, as we stay in the presence of the Lord.

As most of you already know, today is Mothers' Day. If your mother is still living and if there is any way you can do so, please at least call your mother and tell her you love her and she is special and important.

I'm sure some of us may not think our mother did the best job or was the best mother. Perhaps some of you mothers think you're far from the world's best. But today we're going to take a brief look at the subject of mothers, and hopefully we can come to see things in a new light.

My own mother, as I'm sure is true for all mothers who love their children, has questioned whether she's done all she could have done, and whether perhaps someone else could have done a better job.

And if you're a mother, I'm sure you can empathize with her self-doubt. Or perhaps you doubt whether your own mother was all she could have or should have been.

To those of you who fit in any of these categories, I would like to ask one simple question. And the question I would like for you to ponder today is this:

Who chose your mother? Who decided she, not someone else, should bare and raise you?

And who chose YOU to be your children's mother? Who decided you, not someone else, should bare and raise them?

Was it you or she? Does or can any woman choose exactly who her child will be? Can any one choose or create the spirit, the spark of life breathed from God, who will inhabit the body being knit in her womb?

If we chose our children or if we chose our parents, we could very well blame them or us for any human shortcomings. And yet it is not we who make that choice.

We know that everything God does is perfect, even when we, in our limited faulty human reasoning think he has made a mistake.

And is it not God who has chosen your mother? Is it not God who has chosen you to mother your children?

"I sometimes wonder how my children would have turned out if they had been raised by a smarter mother."

Do you then think God has made a mistake?

Even the mother of Jesus was not perfect. Let's read from Luke chapter two, beginning with verse 48:

So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.”  And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.

Notice here Mary innocently calls Joseph his father. Certainly Joseph was a father to Jesus, and I'm sure he treated him as his own son. And in one sense, since Joseph was "one flesh" with Mary the mother of Jesus, Joseph was in that sense his father.

And yet Jesus immediately corrects this error by saying, "Did you not know that I must be about my Father's business?"

So place from your mind the notion that Mary was perfect. No, she was human just like all of us here. She made mistakes, just like all of us here.

And just like all of us who are mothers, she was chosen by God.

Who is the perfect mother for your children? YOU are. Who is the perfect mother for you? Your mother is. God has made the choice, and regardless of what we think, his choice is right.

As a mother, you are chosen by God as the one and only who can perform the task of raising your children exactly the way you were created to do.

Perhaps you are unable to raise your children because of legal battles, sickness, or death; but remember, God knew from before the earth was created everything that would happen in your life. And it was then that he chose the path for you.

We all stray off the path God has for us from time to time, but that too he already knew would happen, and he has already charted our course to get back on the right path. All we have to do is surrender to his Holy Spirit and follow where he leads.

Satan has worked overtime to destroy the image of mothers and fathers, through various forms of abuse, deception, addiction, abortion, and through any other tactic he has been able to devise.

And yet today I want to leave you with the absolute assurance that your role in life is no mistake. And the only one who can perform your task in life the absolutely best possible way is YOU.

YOU were placed in your role by the only one who posesses all wisdom, all knowledge, and who never makes a single mistake.

So after our time of fellowship today, if at all possible, get on the phone or hop in your car and let your mother know that she is chosen by God to be your mother, and no one could have made you who you are today besides her.

And if you are a mother, I want to personally take a moment to honor you and thank you for filling the same role which brought the King of the Universe into the earth so that our sins could be forgiven and so that we could escape eternal torment away from God, and instead spend eternity in his presence.

God doesn't delight in our self-abuse, our self-belittlement, and our thinking we aren't good enough and we don't really matter.

Whether you are a mother, a father, or whatever your position in life may be, God has chosen the roles you should play in life, and as you realize it is he who has made the decision and you begin to surrender to the leading of his Holy Spirit, you will find the things in your life you thought were intollerable tradgedies are being used to bring out your beauty and potential that otherwise would never be seen.

Lord, thank you for our mothers! Thank you for each mother with us today. I ask that you bless them with the realization that they are very important to you. No one else is supposed to be in whatever role they fill in life, and as they seek you as the central focus of everything in their lives, you will fill them with power to overcome all obsticles and to perform the task you have given them.

If there is any division between mothers and children among us today, I speak against those spirits of division, and command you to loose your hold on these families and these relationships, in Jesus' name!

Lord, send your angels to surround each one here, and send your Holy Spirit to work in hearts. Restore any breaches, tear down any walls, and bring unity and renewed love to every mother-child relationship among us.

And it's in the name of Jesus we pray.

Amen!

We're available for prayer or if you just need someone to talk to. Just instant message any of us on the ministry team.

Those here on the ministry team can come toward the front, and we'll be here for a few minutes to pray with you. If you wish to come to the front to pray or receive prayer, feel free to step out of your seat and come up.

In a few moments we will go next door for our time of fellowship. In the meanwhile, come up front and pray with us.

May the grace of God sustain you. May his face shine upon you. May you embrace the roles into which he has placed you. And may everything to which you set your hand prosper. Amen!
