MAKING WAR IN THE HEAVENLIES

Making war in the heavenlies
Tearing down principalities
Standing firm in Jesus' victory

Making war in the heavenlies
Casting down every high thing
That exalts itself against
    the knowledge of Christ

We do not bow our knee to the prince of the air
We know the Truth has set us free
And under our feet he will shortly be crushed
And having done all we'll stand in victory

Our hearts are set apart
for the courts of the Lord
And we will not be bought or sold
By his Spirit in us we will overcome
Pulling down every stronghold

KING OF KINGS

King of Kings and Lord of Lords
    Glory, Hallelujah!
King of Kings and Lord of Lords
    Glory, Hallelujah!

Jesus, Prince of Peace
    Glory, Hallelujah!
Jesus, Prince of Peace
    Glory, Hallelujah!

I SURRENDER ALL

All to Jesus I surrender
All to him I freely give
I will ever love and trust him
In his presence daily live

All to Jesus I surrender
Humbly at his feet I bow
Worldly pleasures all forsaken
Take me, Jesus, take me now

All to Jesus I surrender
Lord, I give my self to thee
Fill me with thy love and power
Let thy blessing fall on me

I surrender all
I surrender all
All to thee, my blessed Savior
I surrender all

and you're my Lord
Every knee shall bow

The title of today's message is "Spiritual Battles." And I'd like for us to read together from Ephesians chapter six, verses 10 through 12.

Ephesians 6:10-12 (KMV*)

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, so you may be able to stand against the deceitful trickery of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

I don't know about you, but sometimes I tend to forget this. Not completely, of course, but in relation to certain things I encounter.

Of course there are side-ditches for everything, and I've known people who see a light flicker and start casting demons out of it. And every temptation is not a demon, for the Bible says this in James chapter 1:

James 1:13-15 (KMV*)

13 Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither does He tempt any one.
14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.

So we can't blame our temptations on God, and we ultimately can't blame our temptations on the devil. It is our own fallen nature, our own lusts, that draw us away and entice us.

That being said, today I'd like for us to look at another aspect of temptation and addiction which is outside of ourselves.

Yes, there has to be some sort of open door for the enemy. But how many of us have never opened any doors? Anyone here? If you think you've never opened any doors for the enemy, we can have a deliverance service later to get you set free from the demon of delusion.

One thing we sometimes don't realize is that just because we are born again, does not mean that everything that held us bound in the past is completely gone.

Yes, we are new creations in Christ Jesus. And I have so many friends who were instantly set free from drugs, sexual addictions, and mental strongholds.

But how many of you know that being born into the family of God is by no means the end of our battles. It simply is the beginning of warring against the enemy with weapons that can defeat him.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (KMV*) says this:

4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;

So yes, we are in a battle, and we will be for as long as we live. But we, as followers of Jesus Christ, have weapons. And not just any weapons; they are mighty through God, and highly effective for pulling down strongholds.

What is a stronghold? Well, I've heard someone say this: "You can't keep the birds from flying over your head, but you don't have to let them build a nest in your hair." A stronghold is like a nest built by thoughts you don't bring into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

Those thoughts build mental patterns, and those patterns direct other thoughts, as well as our choices and perceptions.

And something else those strongholds build is doorways. Spiritual doorways. Where there is a stronghold, you can expect demonic activity.

I think most of us, even in the Church, have strongholds that have been building and growing roots for years. And since we don't know and use our spiritual weapons against the enemy, to break curses, tear down strongholds, and send demons running, he's free to control our lives.

What ever happened to the day when someone would come into a church building with demons, and we would cast them out in Jesus' name?

Satan has worked hard over the years to put an end to that. We try to be seeker friendly and not do things like that which could scare people away. So we leave people bound and tormented and controlled by demons! Well, it's time we stop trying to be seeker-friendly, and realize that it is God who draws the sinner to repentance, and they too need to be set free! Better to be uncomfortable and get set free than to be in a place that tries to not offend us, and stay bound and tormented and controlled! Amen?

I have a couple of audio clips I'd like us to listen to that talk about demonic activities.

The first one is from a lady who had an experience with a spirit of homosexuality, and I'll let her own words speak for themselves.

*** Clip 1 ***

Unfortunately, the video from which this was taken, which was posted on YouTube, got so many hateful responses that commenting had to be turned off. The enemy gets very angry when he's exposed.

And if anyone hearing this is having feelings of anger or is feeling like mocking what you're hearing, or if your mind is clouded with doubts and reasons why what you're hearing is not true, then I encourage you to take authority over any demons in your life, and command them to leave you in the name of Jesus!

When Jesus sent out the disciples, he commanded them to preach the gospel, heal the sick, and cast out demons. All too often in the Church today, we do the first one, but forget about all the rest. And as a result, there are so many Christians who are needlessly bound and tormented by demons, haunted by various curses, and mentally bound by and vulnerable because of strongholds.

But do you realize that, as a born again follower of Jesus Christ, a child of God, you have authority over all the powers of darkness?

James 4:7 (KMV*) says, "Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Are you submitted to God? Have you surrendered yourself to his Word, his will, and his voice? If so, then you can take authority over those things in your life that are not of God.

Remember that "the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds."

And this is how those strongholds are pulled down:

(2 Corinthians 10:5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;

We get so used to hearing our thoughts rambling on endlessly, that we just let them play without paying attention to them. But if you start to listen, you'll find out that so many of the thoughts that go through your mind exalt themselves against the knowledge of God.

"I'm a loser. I should never have been born. I'm a mistake. I have no real purpose, except to be used and abused."

Those are all lies! They are thoughts that exalt themselves against God's knowledge!

For the Bible says that you are fearfully and wonderfully made! It says that God's thoughts toward you are good and not evil, to give you a future and a hope! And God yearns for your fellowship so much that Jesus died so you could be restored to him.

So I challenge you to start watching your thoughts. Listen to them. And whenever anything goes through your mind that does not agree with the Word of God and the call God has placed on your life, bring it into captivity by speaking the Word of God over it.

If you don't know what the Bible says about something you're thinking, do some research. You have the Internet, so do a Bible search. Find out what God says. And then when those thoughts come again, speak aloud the Word of God.

It might take a long time, but those strongholds that have been building for years and that have had a strangle hold on your life will begin to crumble; "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ!"

Amen?

I'd like to play another clip, and all these are referenced in the notecard so you can review them in their entirety later if you wish.

This is Bill Subritzky, speaking about deliverance from demons and breaking curses.

*** Clip 2 ***

Some of that was covered very quickly, but he mentions our need to repent, and to use our authority in Christ.

Do you think there is demonic activity in your life? You just can't seem to overcome something? You seem perpetually bound to lust, drinking, anger, or fear?

Take authority over those spirits, in Jesus' name! Plead the blood of Jesus over your mind and your body. You are not your own, you have been bought with a price! That means you do not belong to those sins or those demons either, for Jesus Christ has purchased you with his own blood!

So bind their power in Jesus' name, and command them to leave you and to never return. And fill their place with worship! Praise God for your deliverance, even before you see it, and dedicated that part of you that once was bound -- dedicate it to God and to his glory, to be used to worship him and him alone.

And break that curse in the name of Jesus! And pronounce the blessings of Scripture over your life instead. "I break this curse of sickness and death, in Jesus name! As the Word of God says, I will live and not die, and will declare what the Lord has done!"

And then watch your thoughts, making it a way of life to be the moderator of your mind, filling it with the Word of God; and every time a thought arises that is not in agreement with the Word of God, realize that this thought is exalting itself against the knowledge of God, and bring it into captivity by proclaiming what the Bible says!

I'd like to share one experience I had, and then we'll close with a time of prayer and ministry.

Many years ago, I don't recall what time it was or what I was doing, but there was a car that pulled up and parked in front of the house across from me, and was playing loud music.

Somehow I knew that there were people gathered around the car. And at that moment, I saw clearly into the realm of the spirit, and saw as it were a spiritual throne, with demons seated on it. And I realized that just as God is enthroned upon the praises of his people, so demons are enthroned upon music which is used to glorify anything besides God.

If you're serious about waging war on the enemy instead of inviting him into your home and into your mind and heart, then start listening only to music that glorifies God. And be very careful about what you watch and read. Those things not only feed thoughts that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God, but they also can be doorways to demonic activity.

Have you ever made friends with something like bitterness? Resentment? Unforgiveness? Self-pitty? The feeling of being a victim? When things happen in our lives, these feelings can seem like our friends, and we can take comfort in their embrace.

But watch out! The enemy is far from having the nature God. You see, God won't lie to you. You either accept him, or you reject him. He won't disguise himself as someone or something else so you'll accept him. Demons, on the other hand, don't care how they get in. They'll masquerade as bitterness, as resentment, as unforgiveness, as self-pitty, as victimization, as a desire for our rights, or as any other thing they think we'll embrace.

And they hide behind those feelings, making themselves right at home and controlling your thoughts and feelings in ways you don't even know.

But I want you to know something today: everything you accept in your life is a doorway, a throne, and a safehouse for something. Either it glorifies God and is a seat of his glory in your life, or it is a doorway and potential habitation of devils.

And I want us all to take just a moment right now and ponder just how many hiding places we've given the enemy in our lives.

Lord, I ask that you begin to reveal to us things in our lives, thought patterns, attitudes, pet feelings, false beliefs, compromises, and anything else that is a doorway and a hiding place for demons, in the precious name of Jesus...

Yes, we do have authority over the enemy. But Jesus said that some kinds of demons can be cast out only after fasting and prayer. Are you serious about being free? Are you serious about evicting the enemy from your life? Are you serious about rooting out every safe house you've allowed yourself to build for them?

Fast and pray. Declare war. Get in the position of battle. And don't stop until every last one is defeated!

Perhaps you want to be free, but you have not surrendered your life to Jesus. Well, that's the place to begin -- at the cross. Ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins, and to make you a brand new creation. Turn from your life of sin and Godlessness, and agree to live like he wants you to.

I have a friend back in Kentucky who would be the first to tell you how much of a terror she was before Jesus. And when she finally surrendered to the Lord, she was alone, at home, crying out to Jesus. She gave herself completely to him. And right there, all alone except for God and his angels, demons began to come out of her.

I encourage you to take authority yourself over demons, and cast them out in Jesus' name. But many times, we need the help of other believers. If you're not part of a church that believes in and exercises authority in Jesus' name over demons, find one!

Now, Jesus warns about casting out demons and filling that place. He says that when a demon goes out of a man, it searches through waterless places; finding no place suitable for it, it comes back to the man. It finds him empty and cleaned out, and then brings back seven demons worse than itself, and the latter state of that man is worse than the first.

So first and foremost, come to Jesus! And as the enemy is routed out of your life, fill up those places with altars of praise to the most high God!

Anyone here today who's on the ministry team, please come stand at the front.

Are you ready to be set free? If there's anything in your life that has held you bound, anything that doesn't glorify God, anything that is a stronghold and could be a doorway and a safe house for demons, then I'd like to pray with you.

Lord Jesus, we come to you today, seeking for your deliverance.

Repeat this out loud after me. Say this:

Spirit of fear, I command you to leave me in Jesus' name! I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind. God has not given me the spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind!

Spirit of rejection, I command you to leave me in Jesus' name! I plead the blood of Jesus over my heart. God accepts me, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

Spirit of suicide, I command you to leave me in Jesus' name! I plead the blood of Jesus over my life. I am not my own, for I have been bought with a great price!

Spirit of sickness, I command you to leave me in Jesus' name! I plead the blood of Jesus over my body. Jesus was wounded for my transgressions, he was pierced for my iniquities. The chastisement of my peace was upon him, and by his stripes, I am healed!

Spirits of lust, homosexuality, adultery, mollestation, and all sexual perversion, I command you to leave me in Jesus' name! I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and I yeild my members to be instruments of righteousness!

Stay in this posture of battle.

Lord, I ask that you would begin to reveal to us areas in our lives that may be under some sort of curse, whether a generational curse, or something that has been brought upon us or we have brought upon ourselves.

And as the Lord brings things to mind, break that curse in Jesus' name!

I break the curse of poverty, in Jesus' name! I am a child of the King of Kings! My Father owns everything, and he has promised to meet all of my needs!

Let's continue this process, and I don't want you to rush off. Everything else in your life can wait. Right now is your time to be set free.

And as you go through your week, whenever the Holy Spirit brings a stronghold, demonic activity, or a curse to your attention, take authority over it in the name of Jesus, and plead the blood over that area of your life.

Lord, I ask that you would continue what you've started here today. Because of your Holy Word and the Blood of the Lamb, let lives be set free, in Jesus' name!

Whenever you need to go, you're free to do so. If you can stay until after this time of ministry, you're all invited to join us in the room to your left for a time of fellowship.

If you'd like someone to pray or talk with you, please instant message me or someone else on the ministry team, or if you're listening outside of Second Life, go to almcyberchurch.org and click either the Prayer Room or the Pastors' Offices and contact us there.

This altar is open, and you're all invited to get out of your seats and come gather at the front for a time of prayer, worship, deliverance, and seeking after the presence of the Lord.

Come!
