I WALK BY FAITH

I walk by faith
Each step by faith
To live by faith
I put my trust in You
I walk by faith
Each step by faith
To live by faith
I put my trust in You

Every step I take
Is a step of faith
No weapon formed against me shall prosper
And every prayer I make
Is a prayer of faith
And if my God is for me
Who can be against me

YES LORD YES

Yes, Lord, yes, to Your will and to Your way
Yes, Lord, yes, I will trust You and obey
When Your Spirit speaks to me, with my whole heart I'll agree
And my answer will be yes, Lord, yes!

YOU ARE CROWNED

You are crowned with many crowns
And rule all things in righteousness
You are crowned with many crowns
Upholding all things by Your word

You rule in power
And reign in glory
You are Lord
Of heaven and earth

You are Lord of all
You are Lord of all
You are Lord of all
You are Lord of all

Father God, I ask that You would focus our minds on You, Lord. Thank You for all that You have done. I know what I have to say is something that has been on my heart and therefore on Yours. May all I do glorify You, oh Lord, Jehovah God, Maker of Heaven and Earth. I pray all this in Your Mighty Name, the Name of Jesus, Amen.

To start off, I am going to ask five questions. Please do not, and I mean do not, answer the questions outloud. The reason is because I'll be trying to give an answer later on.

First question, in the Bible, what does it say is the way to come into God's presence?

Second question, why do the Children of God think that the church building is the only place to worship God if we are the temple, the tabernacle, the House of God?

Third question, who are we to say that someone's form of worship is wrong?

Fourth question, what does it say about the Church with a big 'C' if worshipping God has become routine like coming to church is like going to work or school and nothing ever changes?

Fifth question, once we find ourselves hungry for more of God's presence and wanting to worship Him all the time, everywhere, what do we do?

I titled this sermon Taking Worship Up An Octave because I beleive that we all have a thirst, a hunger for more of God. Not just what we get on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights, but the times in between, too.

I'm going to take us through these questions to maybe find some answers and I am not saying that I have all the answers. I don't, but God does. Beleive me, I am not trying to shake you up unless Holy Spirit is talking to you, then it is a good thing it you are shaken up a bit.

Let's begin with the first question: in the Bible, what does it say is the way to come into God's presence? What does it say is the way, or criteria, to come into the presence of Almighty God?  There are some scriptures about this, but I want us to focus on the one that says in Psalm chapter 100 verse 4 'Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.'

We are to enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, worshipping Him. That is why when we go to church one of the first, if not the first, things we do is thank God for our blessings and then sing praises to Him.

Moving on to the second question which is why do the Children of God think that the church building is the only place to worship God if we are the temple, the tabernacle, the House of God?

We are the temple of God. We are His House. His Spirit dwells in us. I think sometimes people are unsure how to go about worshipping outside the House of God, the church building. Maybe they are too bound in 'religious' tradition that says that worship is only for the church building. Maybe they don't know that God will meet them outside the brick and mortar building, too.

Question three says who are we to say that someone's form of worship is wrong? In John 4:24 it says 'God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.' If how someone worships is his own spirit connecting to God and it is that person's knowledge of God's Truth revealed, I can not speak against it. I'm an observer when I worship sometimes. It is a joy to me to see others worship God the way He made them. So, no, I will not critize someone's form of worship.

The fourth question is what does it say about the Church with a big 'C' if worshipping God has become routine like coming to church is like going to work or school and nothing ever changes?

I truly believe that this type of attitude that makes worshipping God and going to church so mandane and routine and no one is changed is a lukewarm spirit and satan loves it. When there is no power, no Holy Spirit moving, no conviction, we will not change. Father, forgive our lukewarmness. Give us hearts of conviction and a fire that can not be quenched.

James 4:8 says draw near to God and He will draw near to you. That means we move first and God responds. Amazing to know God wants to be near to us and He wants us to want it, too.

The last question is once we find ourselves hungry for more of God's presence and wanting to worship Him all the time, everywhere we are, what do we do?

Thank you for asking. What I am going to tell in answer to that question is from my experiences.

I didn't grow up in a home where we talked a lot about spiritual or religious things. I went to church, Grace Brethren, United Methodist, Mennonite, but all through those I was still hungry. The things I learned there did not satisfy me.

No one told me that I could have a personal relationship with God where I could worship Him all the time. If they did, I didn't hear about it or didn't want to. I know I wanted to though. I was so hungry.

As I went through college, God started showing me things. Things like how to begin the process of forgiving my grandpa, how He had never left me. He even started to show me how I could get satisfied and then yearn for more of Him.

It is at times hard to explain what that means, but I'll try. I have learned that no matter where I am I can worship God and no one...no one can take that away.

I guess it really is a matter of us...His House...to sacrifice, to lay down everything and give that sacrifice of praise.

I took what my worship had been and I took it up an octave. Every day, God raises the octave. So, now I'm to the point that worshipping God is a daily, all day occurance.

I challenge you all to join me. Let God take your worship up an octave.

Anyone on the ministry team can come and if you have a need or want prayer or someone to talk to please instant message me or someone else on the ministry team. Let's all gather at the altar for a time of prayer and worship. Don't forget that when you are alone, with no other humans around, you can still worship God. You don't have to wait until Sunday morning or Wednesday night or whenever you fellowship and worship with other believers. God will meet you where you are. He wants to take your worship experience an octave higher. Let Him.

You are free to leave whenever you are finished here. We will have a time of fellowship in the room to your left with the colorful couches after this altar time. God bless you all. Go with God's peace.
