YOUR WORD IS A LAMP

Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path
Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path

No longer do we walk in darkness
No longer do we walk in darkness
No longer do we walk in darkness

For you have called us out of darkness
into your marvelous light
We turn our backs on what is wrong
and choose to do what's right

Your blood is flowing through my veins
to cleanse until all that remains
is clay that's molded through the pains of life

Your Spirit blows into these bones
to claim this temple as its home
and starts a fire that soon becomes a blaze

EVEN THE MOUNTAINS

We praise you Lord because you're worthy
You are Lord and King of the earth and sky
Let us lift you up and declare your glory
Let us lift our hands and our voices high

Even the mountains praise your name
the rocks and the stones cry Holy!
Whoever seeks for your face
will never be the same
Let your kingdom come
in Jesus' name

I'm an instrument, I am only a vessel
Help me open up to receive your love
Let us put to death thoughts of opposition
Let me step aside and point the world to above

WITH ALL THAT I AM

I praise you Lord
I praise you Lord

With all of my heart
With all of my soul
With all of my strength
I praise you Lord

For there is nobody like you
in heaven or on earth
Who is worthy to receive
all my praise
And I praise you with all that I am
Yes I praise you with all that I am

I'll serve you Lord
I'll serve you Lord

With all of my heart
With all of my soul
With all of my strength
I'll serve you Lord

For there is nobody like you
in heaven or on earth
Who is worthy to receive
all my praise
And I'll serve you with all that I am
Yes I'll serve you with all that I am

I love you Lord and
I'll love you Lord

With all of my heart
With all of my soul
With all of my strength
I love you Lord

For there is nobody like you
in heaven or on earth
Who is worthy to receive
all my praise
And I love you with all that I am
Yes I love you with all that I am

Is your faith on auto-pilot?

What I mean by that:

Call out the first answer
that comes to mind
when you hear
these questions:

What is the Word of God?

What is Worship?

What does it mean to
enter the Kingdom of Heaven?

Most Christians would quickly
answer these questions
something like this:

What is the Word of God?
The Bible!

What is Worship?
Singing and raising your hands.

What does it mean to
enter the Kingdom of Heaven?
Go through the "Pearly Gates"
and walk the streets of gold.

We've heard these answers
over and over and over.
And we just accept them
as Gospel truth.

In fact, some of these
blindly-accepted beliefs,
if someone says
something different,
they are labeled a heretic.

For example:

What if I told you that
the Word of God
does not equal
the Bible?

Heresy!

Right?

John 1:1-3 (TLS) says this:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by Him, and without Him nothing was made that has been made.

And then verse 14 says, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us."

We know this "flesh" to be Jesus.
We know Jesus to be the Word of God.
We know the Word of God to be God.

And we know God to be.... the Bible.

So Jesus is the Bible.
And the Bible is God.

We'd better hope that's right,
because if it's not,
then we're making the Bible
a false god.

Now, I haven't said it's not.
I've just asked the question.

It's important that you
don't accept something as fact
just because EVERYONE knows
that's just the way it is.

Why is that important?

Because impotent knowledge
acts as a veil
that blinds you to reality.

Let's consider the Genesis account.

In chapter three of Genesis,
mankind eats the fruit of judgment.

And in the next chapter,
chapter four,
Cain murders Abel.

Genesis 4:3-5 (NKJV)

3 And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord.
4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering,
5 but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.

So whatever the word "respect"
actually means here,
God gave some sort of attention
to Abel that He didn't give
to Cain.

And the reason
really doesn't matter
for the purpose
of our discussion.

Cain's vegetables were good.

God said in verse seven that
if he does well,
he will be accepted.
If not,
sin is at the door.

Sin had nothing to do
with his vegetables.

Sin had everything to do
with his mind.

If Cain had been fully present,
and had not mentally judged
what he saw as bad,
he would have done well,
and would have been accepted.

But his mind judged a certain
response from God as good, and
the lack of that response
as bad.

And his mind fought against
what was.

And verse five says,
"And Cain was very angry,
and his countenance fell."

He was lost in a mental story.
He believed in that mental story.
He assigned great importance to that mental story.

And the mind drove itself to murder.

Where was the Word of God at this point?

It was in Life.
It was in Presence.
It was in Contentment.
It was in Peace.

At that point,
the book of Genesis
did not exist.

There was no Bible.

But there was The Word.

The Word was the breath
going in and coming out
of their lungs.

It was the Life
animating their forms.

And the exalted human mind
veiled Cain's eyes
so he could not see
The Word of God.

It was warped in his vision.
And he took his brother's life.

When you are inwardly still,
when you are inwardly silent;

When you are not labeling,
when you are not judging;

When you lay aside
the deified mind,
and you embrace
"what is"
directly
with the Life
and the Presence
you are;

You will experience
the sunlight as pure Love;

You will know
the spider on the ceiling
as glorious Life;

You will feel
the air on your face
as the intimate caress of God;

The Word of God
is the cause of all things,
and is the beauty in all things.

The Word of God
is that constant embrace,
that the mind obscures,
and the spirit reveals.

Before mental concepts,
before judgments and labels,
before paper and ink,
before human language;

there was

The Word.
The Life.
The Love.
The Presence.
The Peace.
The Fullness.
The Wholeness.

of God.

The Bible points to it.
And the Scriptures are highly profitable.
They show us the path of Salvation.

But the Bible is not God.

And the Word of God
can only be pointed to
by the human tongue
printed on parchments.

People and memorize and
worship the Bible,
without ever knowing
The Word of God.

The Word of God
cannot be known by flesh;
but only by spirit.
Only by Presence.
Only by Life.

But don't believe me.

Know The Word for yourself.

In stillness.
In silence.
Beyond the little mind.

Okay. So What is the Word of God?
Human words can't contain it,
but can, at best, only point to it.
The human mind cannot comprehend it.
Only the Presence you are can see
and know it.

Next, What is Worship?

When most of us think of worship,
we think of singing,
or raising our hands,
or speaking in tongues,
or dancing,
or falling on our faces.

And this idea does have a
more solid foundation
than our ideas about
The Word of God.

The book of Revelation
talks about worship
around the Throne of God.

But don't the Scriptures
also say that all of Creation
worships its Maker?

When a bird sings,
it is worshiping God.
But is it singing
the bird language version
of one of our popular hymns?

Is the bird saved?

No, the bird was never lost.

The bird simply IS.

Jesus didn't instruct
the birds to not worry,
or the flowers to not worry;

They are already fully present.

When the sun
rises over the horizon,
and the morning
brings all things to life,
the bird isn't angry,
or confused,
or worried,
or scheming,
or sinning.

The bird simply is.

It is fully present.

And when it sings,
it sings Love and Life.

And in dwelling in Love,
it is dwelling in God.

And when Love sings through it,
it is worshiping God.

It can do no less.

That's just the way it is.

We, on the other hand,
are busy navigating
the convoluted maze
of the mind.

The exalted mind might not
murder our brother through us,
but it separates us
from The Word, and
from Worship, and
from Life, and
from Love, and
from God,
all the same.

That's why, time and time again,
the Scriptures warn us
to not walk in the flesh,
but in the spirit.

We simply haven't realized
what this actually means.

If we had,
we would wake up.

Okay, so we've looked at the first two questions
whose answers our minds have blindly believed:
What is the Word of God? and
What is Worship?

Let's look at just one more,
and then we'll close.

What does it mean to
enter the Kingdom of Heaven?

Matthew 18:1-4 (NKJV)

1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?"
2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them,
3 and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

We think this means that
if we do not become,
in some way or another,
like a child, then
we won't go to heaven.

Ultimately, of course,
if we don't enter the kingdom,
the so-called Pearly Gates,
the outer form of heaven,
will be totally off our map.

But what did Jesus say
about what
the Kingdom of Heaven
actually is?

First, He said that
the Kingdom of Heaven
is inside of you.

Luke 17:20-21 (NKJV)

20 Now when (Jesus) was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God does not come with observation;
21 nor will they say, 'See here!' or 'See there!' For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you."

They were looking
for an outer kingdom.
But heaven is
the Presence of God,
and the Kingdom of Heaven
is our Presence
in His Presence.

It is within us.

And it's interesting to note
that Jesus did not say,
"You Pharisees are far away
from the Kingdom of Heaven."

Instead, when He said
the Kingdom of Heaven
is inside of you,
the "you" to whom
He was speaking
was the Pharisees.

The Pharisees
had the Kingdom of God
inside of THEM, too.

Most of them
simply weren't Present.

They had God's Kingdom
inside of them,
but most of them
never entered it.

That messes up
our ideas a little,
doesn't it.

The Pharisees knew the Bible.
But they did not know The Word.

The Pharisees practiced
outer worship, but
true worship eluded them.

The Pharisees had
the Kingdom of God
inside of them,
but did not enter in.

They knew the flesh,
the exalted human mind,
and saw God and
truth and
reality through its filter.

But they did not know God.

Have I given you enough excuses
to offend yourselves today?

Let the mind be offended.

Let the mind get its knickers in a wad.

It takes itself so seriously.
It takes its thoughts so seriously.
It takes its ideas so seriously.

Let it.

Life is Joy.
Life is Peace.
Life is Radient Vitality.
Life is Boundless Love.

The mind can't know these delights.

For they are found only in Presence.

Only in God.

Only where the little mind,
the self-important mind,
cannot go.

So take your attention
out of the past and future,
and put your awareness
back into Real Life.

It is here.
It is now.
And it is
no where and
no time
else.

Have you gotten it yet?

God is Love.
God is Life.
God is Presence.

Yes, sinful actions have separated us,
but Jesus solved that problem.

All that's left for you is to
embrace The Word of God
by coming to where it is.

Fully worship God
by entering fully into His Life.

And dwell in the Kingdom of God
by laying the little exalted mind aside
and being fully Present.

It really is that simple.

The mind will argue against this.
It doesn't want to lose your worship.
It doesn't want to lose its control over you.
It certainly doesn't want you fully present,
because its power over you is
your belief in the past and future
and in its version of reality and truth.

So just let it rant and rail.
And don't take it so seriously.
It hold on you will start to loosen,
as you become fresh and alive
like a child,
and you start to wake up
to the ever-present
Life and Love
of God.
