WHAT A MIGHTY GOD

What a mighty God we serve
What a mighty God we serve
Angels bow before him
Heaven and earth adore him
What a mighty God we serve

HE IS THE KING

He is the King of Kings
He is the Lord of Lords
His name is
Jesus, Jesus,
Jesus, Jesus
Oh, he is the King

His name is Jesus, Jesus
Sad hears we've no more
He can heal the broken hearted
Open wide the prison door
And he's able to deliver evermore

FREEDOM

Where the Spirit of the Lord is
There is freedom
Where the Spirit of the Lord is
There is freedom

There is peace, there is love
There is joy (there is joy)

It is for freedom He's set us free
It is for freedom He's set us free

I'm free! (I'm free! I'm free!)
I'm free! (I'm free! I'm free!)
I'm free! (I'm free! I'm free!)
I'm free

We will walk in Your freedom, walk in Your liberty
We will walk, Lord
We will walk in Your freedom, walk in Your liberty

We will dance in Your freedom, dance in Your liberty
We will dance, Lord
We will dance in Your freedom, dance in Your liberty

We will jump in Your freedom, jump in Your liberty
We will jump, Lord
We will jump in Your freedom, jump in Your liberty

Where the Spirit of the Lord is
THERE IS FREEDOM!!
Where the Spirit of the Lord is
THERE IS FREEDOM!

As we just sang about, where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Freedom. Bondage is a recurring theme throughout both Biblical and secular history. Or, throughout history period, regardless of where it is recorded.

Consider the Israelites. They were slaves for many years in Egypt. The conditions were hard and cruel, as is often the case in matters of slavery, and freedom is a priceless gift; and when it is lost, men and women will sacrifice everything else, including their own lives, to regain it.

And the Children of Israel began to cry out to God for deliverance. And we all know the rest of the story.

What God tells us through their example is that, no matter where you are, and no matter how you got there, His arms are not too short to hold you again.

And no matter how you've been hurting, He has not forgotten you. And He's coming! He's coming to set you free!

Rahab, usually labeled "Rahab the Harlot," was a prostitue in the Old Testament times. We don't know much about her, or why she chose that occupation. What we DO know is that, not only did God free her from her life of sin, but she was a vessel through which God eventually brought the Savior who would offer that same freedom to "whosoever will."

And what God teaches us through HER story is, no matter where you are, and no matter what you've done there, your sins are not too dark for Him to wipe them away. And no matter how you've been hurting, He has not forgotten you. And He's coming! He's coming to set you free!

Jesus taught that whoever practices sin is a slave of sin, just like Israel was a slave to Egypt, and Rahab was a slave to prostitution. You might have been struggling with sin, addiction, compulsions, dark desires, and carnal lusts, for a very long time. And it might seem hopeless, as though, no matter how hard you fight to change, you just can't seem to win.

But what we see time and time again, is that God loves you so much that He sent you a Savior. And Jesus will set you free from WHATEVER currently holds you in bondage.

And we can almost hear His voice teaching us that, no matter where you are, He is right there with you. He laid down His life so you could be born again.

And no matter how you've been hurting, He has not forgotten you. And He is coming, He's coming to set you free.

Now, if you've ever heard me sing, you already know I'm not a great singer by any stretch of the imagination. But I would like to share the life-changing message of today's topic, set to music to help stir up our hearts and drive the promise of God firmly into the deepest parts of your soul.

After this song, for those joining us for service in the Second Life virtual world, you'll be invited to come to the altar for a time of ministry and prayer.

If you're listening inside Second Life, and would like someone to talk or pray with you, you can instant message one of us; or if you're listening to the recording or watching the video, you can go to almcyberchurch.org, click the Prayer Room or Pastors' Offices link, and contact us that way.

Whenever you need to leave, you are officially dismissed, and if you can stay until after this time at the altar, you're invited to make your way up the steps to your left when you're done here, and we'll meet there in a few minutes just to hang out and chat.

But for now, come, and let us remember God's promise that He is Coming to Set You Free!
