Public Prayer Requests:

For Piper. Her son (maybe 1 -2 yrs old) died this week from head trauma. She is beyond devastated. She's facing this without God so to her, this was the end. Unless she accepts Jesus. She needs prayer to deal with the grief and for salvation.

I LOVE TO BE IN YOUR PRESENCE

I love to be in Your presence
with Your people singing praises
I love to stand and rejoice
lift my hands and raise my voice

You set my feet to dancing
You fill my heart with song
You give me reason to rejoice

BLESS THE LORD O MY SOUL

Bless the Lord O my soul
and all that is within me
bless his holy name

For he has done great things
he has done great things
he has done great things
He's so good to me

He saved my soul
he saved my soul
he saved my soul
He's so good to me

He is coming soon
he is coming soon
he is coming soon
Bless his holy name

STILL

Hide me now, under Your wings
Cover me, within Your mighty hand

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You, above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still, know You are God

Find rest my soul, in Christ alone
Know His power, in quietness and trust

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You, above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still, know You are God

I am sure most of you have heard the saying "Stop and smell the roses." To me, it means to mean to slow down...to take it easy.

Oh but Jen...my real name is Jennifer...oh but Mari...Mariposa... :) if I stop and smell the roses there might be a bee and I'll get stung...and I think I'm allergic and I'll get swollen and have to get a shot and then I'll...and it goes and goes and goes...

Or...roses have thorns! If I pick one, I'll get pricked and then I'll bleed and then I'll have to get a bandage...and then I'll...

So worried. So scared.

So busy. In a hurry.

Can't stand still for a moment.

When we were young...children...our parents would tell us to "sit still" "don't fidget" etc. etc. but we are STILL doing that as adults. We can't sit still...always in a hurry. Always busy...not enough time in the day to get everything done. Hurry. Hurry. Rush. Rush.

No time to stop and smell the roses. No time to watch the sunset or sunrise. No time to enjoy God's creation. No time. No time.

In a world where everything is going at top speed and out of control...to the point where if it collides it would be catastrophic.

But if we would take the time to slow down...to smell those thorny, bee-filled roses...to watch the sunset or sunrise...to enjoy God's creation...to be in the now...to just be...

To still body and mind...to allow our soul and spirit to soar above the clouds...to reach a peace that only God can bring...it's that what we all want? Peace?

To allow ourselves to rest and refresh and rejuvenate? To renew our energy?

To realize that God in all His splendor and majesty...has given us all the things we need to live our lives to the fullest. We just need to recognize, realize, and acknowledge it.

Once we do that and take time to stop and smell the roses, we are taken out of the crazy, chaotic world we live in and put into the place where the spirit realm meets ours. It's a wonderful place to be.

Today's altar call is this. To spend some time with God. To be with Him. To rest in His arms.
