REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS
by Anonymous
addition lyrics by Benjamin Faust

Rejoice in the Lord always
and again I say rejoice!
Rejoice in the Lord always
and again I say rejoice!

Rejoice, rejoice
and again I say rejoice!
Rejoice, rejoice
and again I say rejoice!

This is the day that the Lord has made
I will rejoice and be glad today
In His Presence is the fullness of His Joy complete
so I come and I lay my troubles and cares at the Master's feet

Not height, not depth, not the shadow of death
can ever separate me from how He Loves me with
His Joy that's overflowing as it's bubbling up
Rejoicing is the wine of God that's filling my cup

MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS
by Edward Mote

My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
but wholly lean on Jesus' name
On Christ the solid Rock I stand
all other ground is sinking sand
all other ground is sinking sand

When darkness veils His lovely face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
On Christ the solid Rock I stand
all other ground is sinking sand
all other ground is sinking sand

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh, may I then in Him be found
Clothed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne!
On Christ the solid Rock I stand
all other ground is sinking sand
all other ground is sinking sand

HOLY HOLY HOLY
by John Bacchus Dykes

Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning
our song shall rise to Thee.

Holy, holy, holy!
merciful and mighty,
God in three persons,
blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy!
all the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns
around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim
Falling down before Thee,
Which wert, and art, and
evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy!
though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man
Thy glory may not see,
Only Thou art holy;
there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power,
in love and purity.

Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise Thy name,
in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy!
merciful and mighty,
God in three persons,
blessed Trinity.

A couple of weeks ago, we talked about YOU -- how, no matter whether the personality of your temporary character is hard, soft, seemingly insignificant, or annoying to yourself or others, or whether you are born male, female, white, black, or purple with green polka dots, you are a part of God's symphony.

And today, I'd like for us to do a "follow up," if you will, and talk about the next logical step of this realization.

If you are an instrument in a grand musical production, and indeed you are, then there are some things that, if kept in mind as you play your notes day by day, will form a masterpiece of beauty inside of you and in the world around you.

First of all, you should be in tune.

Now we can break this one down into three parts:

In tune with yourself.
In tune with others. and
In tune with God.

So let's start with the first one:
In tune with yourself.

Are you in harmony? Or do you clash on the inside?

If your actions and beliefs do not match, you are out of tune with yourself.

If you are fighting against yourself, whether that is in the form of self-fault-finding, self-condemnation, or getting lost in the cross-fire of conflicting desires, emotions, or thoughts, then you are out of tune within.

And the notes you play will be in discord with themselves as well as with others.

Next, let's look at being
In tune with others.

You COULD be completely consistent on the inside, with no inner fighting or conflicts. But remember that you are only one of a vast number of instruments. And if you are out of tune with those around you, you just won't sound very good together.

Now I'm not saying that you should conform or try to be like everyone else. What I AM saying is that, if you are at war with those around you, you are a part of the discord.

Pride, imagined superiority, entertained feelings of inferiority, political, ideological, and religious fighting, racism, sexism, assigning greater or lesser value to individuals based on various differences of personality, intelligence, belief systems, or life choices; these are all forms of being out of tune with others.

And finally, let's consider being
In tune with God.

And since God is Love, let's call this "being in tune with Love."

We've talked about Love before, and we've looked at the differences between our ideas about Love and what Love actually is.

God IS Love. So being in tune with God is being in tune with Love, and being in tune with TRUE Love, Divine Love, is being in tune with God. You cannot have one without the other.

If you are out of tune within yourself, you are not in tune with Love, for Love will not create inner chaos, but will fully accept all the facets of your temporary self, while directing positive change in this Present Moment.

If you are out of tune with others, you are not in tune with Love, for Love is patient and kind, is not jealous, is not easily angered, doesn't keep score, and extends full acceptance to others while playing whatever part Love directs to help others in their transformation from Glory to Glory into the image of Love.

But when you begin to be tuned BY Love INTO Love, everything else begins to line up as well.

As Philippians 2:13 tells us, it is God, Love, who works within us, tuning us to the desires and actions of Love. So we are tuned, BY Love, INTO Love, both towards ourselves and towards others. And this creates an ever-increasing harmony both within and without.

1st Corinthians 13 starts with the words, "If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal."

Of course gongs and cymbals are a splendid part of the Great Symphony, but a "noisy" gong and a "clanging" symbal are a different story. And if you are not tuned to Love, you will not play the part you are designed to play.

The composer and conductor of the Great Symphony is Love. Love is the Symphony Maker. And a lack of Divine Love is the maker of cacophony, which is a harsh, discordant mixture of sounds.

So you can be out of tune within....

Or you can be tuned by Love, the Symphony Maker, and make beautiful music within.

You can be out of tune with others....

Or you can be tuned by Love, the Symphony Maker, and make beautiful music in the world around you.

And you can be out of tune with Love, and thus out of tune within and without, and make discord and disharmony and muddy the atmosphere everywhere you go, or you can be being tuned, in this Present Moment, by God, by Love, by the Symphony Maker, and you can be filled to overflowing with peace and joy, as you automatically bring harmony into the world around you.

Can you hear Love? Do you recognize it when you hear it? Or are your ears numbed by the sounds of disharmony within and without?

Love is not at war with what is. And if you ARE, then you are not tuned by Love.

"It's too hot, so I'm not happy." You are at war.

"It's raining, so I'm in a bad mood." You are at war.

"It's snowing, and I'm going to complain about it." You are at war.

"The lines at the market are too long, and I'm becoming more and more upset." You are at war.

"I'm worried about what will happen if I lose my job, or can't pay my bills, or if some sort of disaster strikes." You are at war.

Love has already written the end of your story, and Love is writing this Present Moment right now.

You are surrounded by and filled to overflowing with His Glory, and you are fully immersed in His unfathomable blessings and provision.

Do you doubt this? Then you are at war.

Don't know how to step into the realm of Love? Then stop trying to figure it out.

As we read in Philippians, it is GOD who does the work in you, who tunes you to Himself, who tunes you to Love.

Just stop fighting everything, stop fighting what is, and start resting in the Everlasting Arms.

He is surrounding you. In Him, you Live, and Move, and have your Being.

Just let Him have His way inside of you, as you are tuned, from Glory to Glory, into the image of Love.
