lyrics by Henry van Dyke
music by Ludwig van Beethoven

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee,
God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flow'rs before Thee,
Op'ning to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;
Drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day!

All Thy works with joy surround Thee,
Earth and heav'n reflect Thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around Thee,
Center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain,
Flow'ry meadow, flashing sea,
Singing bird and flowing fountain
Call us to rejoice in Thee.

Thou art giving and forgiving,
Ever blessing, ever blest,
Wellspring of the joy of living,
Ocean depth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our Brother,
All who live in love are Thine;
Teach us how to love each other,
Lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals, join the happy chorus,
Which the morning stars began;
Father love is reigning o'er us,
Brother love binds man to man.
Ever singing, march we onward,
Victors in the midst of strife,
Joyful music leads us Sunward
In the triumph song of life.

by Edward Mote

Verse 1:
My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
but wholely lean on Jesus' name

Verse 2:
When darkness fails His lovely face
I rest on His unchanging grace
in every high and stormy gale
my anchor holds within the veil

Verse 3
When He shall come with trumpet sound
O may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
faultless to stand before His throne

On Christ the solid rock I stand
all other ground is sinking sand
all other ground is sinking sand

by Benjamin R. Faust

I give you all of me
I give you all of me O Lord
I give you all of me
Come fill this place

Fill me with your Spirit Lord
So I may do your will and walk in your way
Keep me in your presence
Every moment, I pray
So I will always love you
So I will always love you

by Benjamin R. Faust

You are my life
You are my strength
You are my song, Jesus

You are my heart
You are my soul
I want the whole world to know

That you are everything to me
And for all eternity
I will sing your praises

I give you my life
I give you my strength
I give you my song, Jesus

I give you my heart
I give you my soul
For you have made me whole!

Today's fireside chat is titled Prince of Peace. Jesus is our Prince of Peace.

I know for a fact that He brings me peace when I need it most. When there is a storm outside and the thunder roars and the lightning flashes, He comes and bring comfort and peace to me.

When there is a storm inside of me and my insides and trembling in fear or doubt or maybe because of something someone said or my mental state is in chaos, Jesus comes and wraps His arms around me again.

Whatever case it may be, Jesus is there, comforting me and giving me peace.

There are so many times that Jesus has held me close and become my Prince of Peace in order for me to get through the moment. Maybe the moment, the situation doesn't change right away, but my emotions and my feelings have changed. Jesus brings about a peace that passes all understanding.

Here I will give some personal experience to this.

In January of 1998, my mom had open heart surgery. She was 37. I was gonna be 17 that June. Once when the doctor called us in the waiting room and said that mom might not make it out of one of the many surgeries, my brother had answered the phone. He told me what was going on and then he fell to his knees and cried out to God. At that moment, a warmth from my head to my if in answer to my brother's cry...I knew she was going to be okay. I believe that was a time when Jesus came to us as Prince of Peace.

When my step dad passed away in February of 2015, Ben and I were out on errands. We got back to the house and everyone was crying and everything. I knew as soon as my brother met me at the door and hugged me that my step dad, Ross, had passed away. There were so many times since he started hospice until February 18th that I knew without a doubt Jesus was there as Prince of Peace. When Ross told me to come close and told me he loved me and that I was special, it was he way of saying good-bye. When Ross requested worship songs to be sung and the Bible read at his bedside, I knew Jesus was there...Prince of Peace.

The Prince of Peace...the calms the storm in our lives and the storms outside. Who calmed the sea waves and calms my fears and nerves. Who wraps me in His arms and with a few words brings me joy and peace. It can not be understood by logical minds...this peace that passes all understanding which comes from the Prince of Peace.

Now, I ask you need the Prince of Peace to do something in your life? All you need to do is ask Him and I know He will come.

That is what the altar call is today.
I want you to pray for the Prince of Peace to come and wrap you in His arms.

Come and ask Him.

Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace, we humbly come before You and ask that You would come and wrap us in Your arms. Lord, we are in need of comfort and Your peace that passes all understanding. Please come, Lord. Please. I beseech You Lord to come.

Come my brothers and sisters in Christ. Come and pray.
